13th century chainmail

In the 13th century, chainmail was the main part of medieval armour. Typical chainmail clothing for battlefield consisted of chainmail shirt with long sleeves, chainmail gloves, and sometimes chainmail coif and collar. Usually it was complemented with chainmail hoses, attached to the belt. The best source of authentic chainmail illustrations is the Maciejowski Bible.
