Medieval clothing for kids was changing in the same way as medieval clothes for adults. Children also had their underwear - braies and shirts, their clothes - dresses, doublets, and outfits - houpelandes and robes. Medieval fashion for children usually simply copied fashion for adults. The only exception were clothes for the youngest children. For centuries, clothes for very young children remained unchanged. There was no difference between color and pattern of clothes for baby boys and baby girls. All newborns were tightly wrapped in linen or wool cloths. Toddlers wore simple tunics or dresses, regardless of their sex.
